Integrative Counsellor (MBACP)

I am a BACP registered therapist, and I am also in my final stages of completing a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology, awaiting a HCPC registration. I am passionate about helping people overcome their difficulties: I offer therapy in a warm, safe and non-judgemental space. At our first meeting we will discuss how you view your difficulties and how you would like to work with me and what you want to get out of therapy.

WHAT IS THERAPY/COUNSELLING?

Therapy (also called psychotherapy or counselling) provides a safe and confidential space for you to talk to a trained professional about your issues and concerns. It can help you to make sense of things and understand yourself better, resolve complicated feelings or find ways to manage them. It can allow you to explore past issues and recognise unhelpful thought or behavioural patterns and find ways to transform them. It can help you understand what’s going on for you or things that have happened in the past. Once you have this understanding and acceptance you may feel more able to look towards your future…

HOW CAN THERAPY HELP ME MOVE FORWARDS?

You can benefit from therapy in various ways, often depending on the reasons for seeking help. Talking to someone about your problems can help to gain an insight, perspective and understanding. It allows people to see things differently and learn alternative ways to manage their difficulties. We allow you the space to feel heard and understood and make positive changes in your life.

SO WHAT’S THE PROCESS?

The sessions are usually 50 minutes long and are usually weekly, or fortnightly in some circumstances. What you talk about will vary depend on what you want help with and the therapist’s approach. It could include your relationships, your childhood, your feelings, emotions or thoughts, your behaviour, past and present life events and/or situations you find difficult.

Our therapists will listen to you without judgment and help you explore your thoughts and emotions Therefore, you should feel safe and able to take risks by disclosing and discussing sensitive issues.
